Iran was not always a terrorist state. One day it may return to it’s former past when it was considered one of the more modern states in the Middle East with tremendous economic potential.

In it’s best years, in the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s, the Shah of Iran was the dominant figure. He is in many ways the perfect example of a very controversial figure who was being propped up by the West, despite accusations of major corruption. Was it a mistake of the Western leaders, such as Eisenhower, Kennedy, LBJ, and Nixon to side with the Shah? The Shah was accused of violating the human rights of his opposition too.

The answer is now crystal clear. It was the right thing to do anything that would keep the Shah in power. Why? Because the alternative is what we have today. A wealthy nation in the Middle East that has a few goals – all of which are horrible. Iran strives to destabilize the entire Middle East and destroy Israel. But their ultimate goal is to destabilize the Western world, and move the United States off of it’s dominance of insuring freedom in the world.

So, should America have overlooked the evidence that Iran’s leadership pre-1979 was corrupt? Yes. The Shah never posed a threat to the world. The Ayatollahs and radical Islam do.
