WhatsappOn Friday morning, Vladimir Putin announced the annexation of four Ukrainian territories. Russia now deems any attack on these territories as an attack on Russia itself. In response Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine applied for expedited NATO membership.
Applying for NATO membership while at war with Russia is the surest way of catapulting the world into WW3. After all Russia claimed its entire invasion of Ukraine was because Ukraine was moving towards NATO membership. If NATO accepts Ukraine – it bolsters Putin’s point that this was the West’s intention the entire time.
Further complicating the situation if Ukraine is accepted into NATO is Article 5 – NATO resolution. This states:
“The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defence recognized by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area.“
This is followed up by Article 6 which states:
“For the purpose of Article 5, an armed attack on one or more of the Parties is deemed to include an armed attack:
- on the territory of any of the Parties in Europe or North America, on the Algerian Departments of France 2, on the territory of Turkey or on the Islands under the jurisdiction of any of the Parties in the North Atlantic area north of the Tropic of Cancer;
- on the forces, vessels, or aircraft of any of the Parties, when in or over these territories or any other area in Europe in which occupation forces of any of the Parties were stationed on the date when the Treaty entered into force or the Mediterranean Sea or the North Atlantic area north of the Tropic of Cancer.”
All 30 NATO members must approve the ascension of a country. While this seems unlikely in Ukraine’s case since it is currently fighting a war with Russia, its acceptance cannot be ruled out. If Ukraine is allowed to join NATO – a direct war between America and Russia will be expedited potentially bringing calamity to the entire world.
PUTIN’S CRUSADE
Putin’s speech at the formal annexation of Luhansk and Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhia has beeen touted as extreme and in many ways it is. Yet, it is also a near formal declaration of the next stage of war.
“I want the Kyiv authorities and their real masters in the West to hear me so that they remember this. People living in Luhansk and Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhia are becoming our citizens. Forever,” Putin said.
Russia’s leader went on to explain that he and Russia are leading a war against the west for moral reasons and to protect Russians from Western neocolonial machinations.
“The West … began its colonial policy back in the Middle Ages, and then followed the slave trade, the genocide of Indian [Indigenous] tribes in America, the plunder of India, of Africa, the wars of England and France against China …
“What they did was hooking entire nations on drugs, deliberately exterminating entire ethnic groups. For the sake of land and resources, they hunted people like animals. This is contrary to the very nature of man, truth, freedom and justice.”
“Now they have moved on entirely, to a radical denial of moral norms, religion, and family …
“The dictatorship of the Western elites is directed against all societies, including the peoples of the Western countries themselves. This is a challenge to all. This is a complete denial of humanity, the overthrow of faith and traditional values. Indeed, the suppression of freedom itself has taken on the features of a religion: outright Satanism.”
“Do we really want, here, in our country, in Russia, instead of ‘mum’ and ‘dad’, to have ‘parent number one’, ‘parent number two’, ‘number three’? Have they gone completely insane? Do we really want … it drilled into children in our schools … that there are supposedly genders besides women and men, and [children to be] offered the chance to undergo sex change operations? … We have a different future, our own future.”
Both Putin’s annexation and fiery speech as well as Zelensky’s response of application to NATO are setting the stage for WW3. Nothing seems capable of derailing this. World history is full of inflection points, where before is never comparable to after. We are now witnessing one of these and the world will never be the same again.
