Last night a young woman who returned to Israel after a few years in the States called me.
This is not about pro or anti shot. The woman I’m about to tell you about took the shot. This is about a deeper underlying issue about the medical establishment that has been bothering me for a long time.
This woman who called me is now in Israel, yet was recently in New York. She had a ticket to return to Israel and took the covid shot in New York to be able to get on a plane and return to Israel. Even though she was very worried about existing underlying health issues, her doctor in NY told her not to worry and to take the shot, so she did. She ended up having a horrible reaction to the first shot that sent her to the ICU of a NYC hospital. Thankfully, she recovered and continued with her plan to return to Israel. However, due to her reaction to the first shot, her doctor in NY then wrote a medical exemption note for her not to take the second shot.
Why did this young woman call me? Because now that she is in Israel, every doctor in Israel is telling her that she has to take the second shot, and not to worry about her underlying health conditions and the horrible reaction she had to the first shot. Basically, they are telling her to even ignore the medical advice of her own doctor, who first advised her to get the shot, but then changed his mind about the second one because of the horrible reaction she had to the first one. To put it mildly, this woman is very worried about her health and doesn’t know what doctors she can trust since they are all ignoring her medical history and her own doctor’s medical advice, based on what happened to her.
Why am I telling this story? Because this is one of many stories that highlight how many of the medical professionals we rely on today, even friends and family, no longer actually practice medicine, looking at an individual’s medical history, asking pertinent questions etc. before advising them to take the shot or not. And that is extremely worrying.
This very serious issue was brought to my attention in a very strong way after the massive fear campaign to pressure pregnant women to get the shot, even though the medical community had no data whatsoever to rely upon to know that it is safe for the pregnant woman and fetus/future person. Regardless, the whole medical community pressured all pregnant women to take the shot. Everyone knows that pregnant women are supposed to be very careful about what they put into their bodies. And who knows what pregnant women have existing health issues as well. Yet, that was all totally ignored by the medical community and many, if not most, doctors. Instead, there was just total pressure for all pregnant women to take the shot without proper information about their own personal medical situation to have informed consent when deciding what to do.
I have no problem with a medical professional who seriously looks at the data and the medical history of a patient, asks pertinent medical questions and then gives advice, allowing a person to have informed consent regarding the risk/benefit analysis to one’s health. But I have lost all trust in medical professionals who are pressuring everyone, regardless of age, medical history etc. to take the shot without properly looking into a person’s individual case and providing a full picture of information so that the patient can have proper informed consent.
Just the other night on Israeli television a woman was interviewed whose mother just died after receiving the third shot. This woman supported her mother in getting the third shot, but after she died, this woman sat back and realized that nobody asked her mother any questions about her health situation and they didn’t check her latest blood tests or take new blood tests etc. to first understand if the shot is the best thing for here. It took her mother’s death for her to wake up and realize this very scary medical reality we are living in.
Again, this is not about the shot or not. This is about extremely worrying behavior by doctors we are supposed to trust. Instead, many people today have lost trust in the medical establishment and doctors, who unfortunately stopped caring about treating individual patients and instead push the-shot-is-the-only-solution-for-all-no-questions-asked, regardless of medical history.
There are still some good doctors out there and maybe some will read my post and change their ways. As for the rest of us? Yes, speak to a doctor for advice. But, find a doctor who is truly interested in giving the best advice for you, after understanding your personal medical situation and history. And then ask for a full understanding of the risks/benefits to you for you to then be able to make an informed decision. If your doctor does not do this, then find another doctor to consult.
Praying for everyone’s health regardless of what medical decisions people make.
