As the US Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman accomplished things that were unprecedented in history. The Abraham Accords were something that people never would have thought possible just a few years before it happened. Of course there is still more to work on in order to advance peace, but there is hope for a bright future.
As an Orthodox Jew, Friedman cared and cares for the Jewish people and the Jewish state in a way that is different than other ambassadors. That aspect made him unique.
Can you imagine if he was still the ambassador? How much more he would have achieved? How many more countries would have made official peace with Israel? Can you imagine how much more he would have accomplished for the US-Israel relationship? David Friedman accomplished goals with intelligence and poise. He supported Israel in a way that is sorely missed right now. If only America still had an ambassador and an administration that had a clear understanding of the Middle East. How different things would be!
Friedman’s ending remark about how in Israel, there is “a sense of purpose in life” is beautiful. He really gets it. He gets it about Israel, and he gets it about the United States. The former ambassador to Israel shared important points in this interview. Maybe the current administration should listen. If only they would.
