The IDF announced yesterday that all preparations are ready for it to enter and conquer Rafah. The army is only waiting for a the go ahead from the government to start the operation.

Before the beginning of Pesach, the IDF was preparing to deploy two reserve brigades to the Gaza Strip, under the 99th Division.

These brigades include the 679th “Yiftah” Armored Brigade and the 2nd “Carmeli” Infantry Brigade, which had been operating on the northern border, and according to the IDF “prepared in recent weeks for their mission in the Gaza Strip.”

The reserve brigades are taking the place of the Nahal Brigade which has been clearing out the Netzarim corridor in central Gaza, a 6.5 km long road and with buffer zones on each side that runs from Kibbutz Be’eri to the Mediteranean – effectively cutting the strip in half. The Neitzarim corridor appears to be in the process of being turned into an effective Israeli security enclave in the heart of the strip with three bases hooked up to the national electric grid. The Yiftah and Carmeli brigades will hold the corridor and continue the work of the Nahal Brigade, which has been taken out of Gaza to unite with the larger force amassing in Gaza’s South for the final invasion of Rafah.

Why Is Rafah A Game Changer?

Months have gone by in the war over Gaza. Will the politicians finally give the IDF the go ahead to crush the last remaining military stronghold in Gaza? A stronghold that most assume is the hiding place of Sinwar and Deif and the remaining hostages? Will the politicians finally allow the State of Israel to regain full control over the Philadelphi Corridor (i.e. the border between Gaza and Egypt)?

There is a reason why the world is against the IDF entering Rafah. The crushing of Hamas, is in a sense, this generation of Jews’ mission. It is the beginning of the reversal of the expulsion of the Jews from Gaza – a beginning of a national liberation and awakening of the false concepts and hopes that got us here.

It’s Pesach – the holiday of liberation. The nation of Israel yearns for its Redemption – will we finally move forward?
