The UN has become a laughingstock instead of serving as a source for promoting negotiations for compromise and peaceful resolution around the world. On the contrary, there are UN bodies, like UNRWA that are actually promoting strife in the world with their enormous budgets that get turned into fortifying terror facilities.
But even the UN can make a change or two. If President Trump wants to intervene in the UN, he must first do exactly what he is doing in other international bodies around the world – flatten the playing field and stop funding activities of the UN that are funding values that are diametrically opposed to American values.
The UN is a unique institution that should not be disposed of. But it needs much more than a facelift and much more than an infusion of new ideas. It needs a total transformation from being a political body that feigns to care about morals and universal values. It should become a place where the most universally recognized and accepted moral leaders raise the bar for developing nations via the spread of universal values that everyone appreciates. The UN should be a voice for spreading gradual decentralization of power in tyrannical countries, peaceful resolution of world conflicts whenever possible, and promotion of cheap medical care for all of humanity.
