Has Trump Caved To The Iranians?

An article in the Qatari newspaper Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed reported that according to an Iranian source the Islamic Regime in Tehran is pleasantly surprised by the conduct of negotiations with the United States. The source claims that Washington recognizes in principle Tehran’s right to enrich uranium.

The source also noted that in the framework of the talks, which are continuing “in a manner that exceeds expectations”, it appears that the American demands “are not high”, which he said is giving momentum to the talks. He also claimed that no additional demands have been presented so far that are not related to the nuclear issue, and the parties may reach an agreement within two months “or even sooner”.

The source’s words come a day before the third round of talks between Washington and Tehran, which is expected to take place in Oman. After the latest round, which took place on Saturday, the Omani Foreign Ministry issued a statement stating that the parties had agreed to enter the next phase of the talks, with the aim of reaching an agreement that would ensure that Iran is “completely free of nuclear weapons and sanctions,” but with the ability to develop nuclear energy “for peaceful purposes.”

The issue of uranium enrichment is one of the main issues at the heart of the negotiations, in addition to the American demand to also deal with the Iranian missile program. Trump’s close advisor, Steve Witkoff, who headed the American delegation for the talks, recently published a post on his official “X” account in which he made it clear that any final agreement with Iran must include stopping and destroying its enrichment program.

In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi emphasized that uranium enrichment is not open to negotiation and said, “If the Americans come with a constructive approach, I hope we can begin talks on a framework for a possible agreement, but if they continue with a confrontational approach, we will encounter difficulties.”

So whats really going on?

The Iranians are clearly buying for time and hoping that the neo-isolationists inside Trump’s cabinet can continue to push the President to prioritize talks with Iran instead of a military confrontation. Witkoff has always been a useful idiot and while Trump trusts him, he is only being used to gather information and present it to President Trump. It is the cabinet and ultimately President Trump that will make the decision to attack Iran’s nuclear sites.

One has to remember that President Trump can at any moment order an attack that can devastate Iran and wipe out the regime and their nukes once and for all. While there is a certain worry that Iran is stringing out the clock until it reaches a nuclear weapon, Trump can end Iran if he finds out they have actually crossed the threshold.

Further more, if Israel decides to go it alone using the Mossad and special forces on the ground along with Kurdish and Azeri partners many of which have suffered at the hands of the regime, the delaying tactics by the Iranian regime are actually aiding such a covert operation by giving it time to be set up.

The difference between the Trump administration and previous American administrations is that Trump has positioned heavy assets in the region as a serious pressure tactic that casts a shadow over the negotiations themselves. While its true, the Iranians may be very close to a bomb, Israeli intelligence on the ground in Iran, the same Israeli intelligence that has enabled Israel’s Mossad to continue to pull off high value hits in Iran, knows exactly how much time there is left before Iran crosses the nuclear threshold. Netanyahu will activate a covert operation despite ongoing talks, if the threshold is about to be crossed.

Trump’s current negotiations are far more about quieting the neo-isolationist wing of his coalition, which views Israel as a necessary annoyance until they themselves fully come to power after Trump’s term. By negotiating in the near term, President Trump can rightfully make the claim that he gave it a chance and had no choice but to take the Mullahs and their nuclear weapons out for the betterment of mankind and not just for Israel.
