United Hatzalah is an emergency medical service organization, founded in 2006. Their response time is 90 seconds or less. In the book of Isaiah, there is a verse that God tells Isaiah that the Jewish People “will be a light unto the nations”.

United Hatzalah

United Hatzalah is a volunteer emergency medical service organization based in Jerusalem, Israel. It was founded in 2006 by Eli Beer. Hatzalah uses Ambucycles, a motorcycle, which on the back has a box with equipment that might be needed. Their mission is to provide care during the critical window of time until a traditional ambulance arrives.

In 2008 they developed the Life Compass GPS, it tracks the volunteers via GPS, to determine who is closest to the scene of the accident. It sends the volunteers on the fastest route possible to the scene, where they are needed. When a volunteer joins Hatzalah they are issued a smartphone which is automatically linked to the Life Compass.

With the ambucycles Hatzalah has a response time of under 3 minutes. They answer an average of 1000 calls a day. They answer calls no matter what religion, race or national origin. Since Hatzalah was founded, the rate of cardiac arrest deaths has decreased by 50% according to the Israel Heart Society.

“Light Unto the Nations”

This phrase is from a verse in the Book of Isaiah, Chapter 49:6 “It is too light a thing for you to be My servant, to establish the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the scions of Israel, and I shall submit you as a light unto the nations, to be My salvation until the end of the earth”

The Jewish People have been told that they need to be a light unto the nations. They have shown that they are a light among the nations, the Jews have shown the world what they can do. David Ben Gurion, the first Prime Minister of Israel had a vision for the State, that it would be a light among the countries of the world.

Israel has done many things to help the world. Whichever country might be in need after an earthquake or a tsunami, Israel sends humanitarian aid, set up field hospitals, sends search and rescue parties and more. Israel has given the world, Waze, Whatsapp, GetTaxi and so much more, also in the medical world.

Israel has proven to the world what it can do. It has shown that it can be a light unto the nations.
