Arab Agricultural Terror

This is a continuation of the Arab agricultural eco-terrorism against Jewish fields across Israel, especially in the Gush Etzion area.

This Arab attack on the Jewish cherry fields is taking place weeks before the annual Gush Etzion cherry picking festival. Thousands of people came from all over the country to enjoy this cherry festival.  It serves as a huge economic boost for the Jewish farmers in the region.

The Gush Etzion region is in the midst of a fund raising campaign to purchase proper fire equipment to deal with the string of eco-terror fire attacks. Currently, they do not have the proper equipment, and the firefighters were not able to put out the fire immediately. The fire raged for a long time before the firefighters succeeded in controlling it. The proper equipment would help them mitigate the damage of further Arab attacks.

In addition to the long list of recent arson attacks, the Arabs have stolen dozens of tons of cherries from the orchards as well.

Gush Etzion Mayor Responds

In response to the attack, Gush Etzion Regional Council Head Shlomo Ne’eman said, “We are witness to repeated and organized attacks by Arab rioters on Jewish agriculture. This is not about bored teenagers. It seriously harms the nation of Israel and Israeli sovereignty.”

“It is inconceivable that a Jewish farmer should not be able to work his land. These rioters continue their traditional attempts to banish Gush Etzion’s Jews from their land, and our unashamed response is that they will continue to see us here, standing up for our values and living on our land forever.”

“State authorities, led by the court which only a few weeks ago released an agricultural terrorist who harmed Israeli agriculture and was arrested after much effort by our forces, need to work immediately to apply the rule of law. Kfar Etzion, and Gush Etzion’s farmers are not a free-for-all.”

This type of agricultural terrorism is a dangerous reality.  We simply cannot choose to ignore it.

The main fire station of Gush Etzion junction services all of the surrounding communities, business parks, shopping centers, and common areas. However, Gush Etzion is spread out over a large mountainous terrain covering a few square miles.  Therefore sometimes fire trucks can take up to 25 minutes to reach the scene of a fire.  By this point, a small brush fire may very well turn into a major blaze.

Therefore they are in dire need of first-response equipment.  Fire wagons and many other items are effective to control small blazes until the fire brigade arrives.

Community volunteers, ready to jump to action at any time, need the the first-response equipment.  They are prepared to safeguard their homes and the homes of their neighbors at a moment’s notice 24/7. A fire wagon for example holds up to 25 liters of water.  A wagon provides up to 25 minutes of relief until the firefighters arrive. That can be the difference between a small blaze and a full-blown forest fire.
