Ammar Campa-Najjar is running for the San Diego East County Congressional Seat. Campa-Najjar is the grandson of one of the masterminds of the massacre of 11 Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics in 1972.
Condemns his Grandfather’s Actions
Campa-Najjar’s grandfather was Muhammad Yusuf al-Najjar, a member of the terrorist group Black September. The Israeli Mossad assassinated Najjar a year later for his heinous crime at the Munich Olympics.
Campa-Najjar never met his grandfather. He is on record condemning his paternal grandfather’s actions saying that he would “never be able to understand or condone” him and that there is “never justification for killing innocent civilians.”
As a Jew and as an Israeli it is a reflex to taint Campa-Najjar with the crimes of his grandfather. But that would not be fair. Campa-Najjar is his own person, with his own agenda for life. He can and will be judged by his actions alone, not on the actions and hate of his grandfather.
A Supporter of President Trump’s Travel Ban
What about his positions on US policy that he has been vocal about in the elections for Congress. One report claimed that he was a Bernie Sanders supporter on many economic issues. On the other hand, he disagrees with many Democrats who came out against Trump’s Travel ban calling it a “Muslim ban.” Campa-Najjar explains how it really is just a travel ban. And he supports it – even though he himself is an Arab-Muslim.
Campa-Najjar explains his support for Trump’s travel ban:
His position on economic issues:
Campa-Najjar is an example of a face that we ought to get used to seeing. He is the face of a smooth talking Muslim progressive – in the model of Obama. He formerly worked for Barack Obama’s election campaign. Listening and watching him, it is clear he speaks like Barack Obama and is clearly an interesting candidate from the liberal side of the political map.
