Has the U.S. reached a brick wall with peace in the Middle East?

The Trump administration announced that they are shelving Trump’s “deal of the century” plan for peace in the Middle East.

What is the Deal of the Century?

The truth is we don’t know. President Trump appointed his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and a close confidant Jason Greenblatt as the special envoys entrusted in coming up with the plan. They have been extremely secretive about the deal and have not released any details.

President Trump and his envoys understood that a different approach was necessary to make a deal. As President Trump himself stated “I am looking at two-state, and one-state, and I like the one that both parties like”. He doesn’t care what the solution is as long as the parties agree to it.

Previous Attempts

While all other plans for peace in the Middle East were based on land swaps and the two state solution, supposedly their plan was different. The two state solution plan for peace in the Middle East has proven to be a failure for over 100 years. The first such plan goes back to 1919 – the “Faisal–Weizmann Agreement.”  The plan was basically a simple plan to divide the land into two states. Interestingly enough the Jewish State is the one called “Palestine” in that agreement.  The Arab state is called the “Arab State.”   This is further historical proof that there never was an Arab people called “Palestinians!”

The Arabs rejected the Faisal–Weizmann Agreement. That was the first of many times that they rejected solutions for creating two states for two peoples. The latest are the Clinton Camp David peace accords that arch-terrorist Yassar Arafat rejected.  Then Mahmoud Abbas rejected President Bush’s plan.  It has always been the Arabs who reject every deal.

Deal Dead Before it Was Born

The real lesson President Trump has to learn is that the Arabs are NOT interested in peace at all. They have been quite clear for over 100 years that they want to kill Jews. It started way before the establishment of the State of Israel. Before Israel liberated Judea, Samaria and Gaza in 1967.  Before we built settlements in Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip in the 1970’s. It has nothing to do with a made-up occupation. It has to do with their desire to kill Jews and destroy Israel.

President Trump should be using his proven negotiation tactics here as well.  He can truly test the Arab side’s will to come and negotiate.  He ought to support Israel’s right to build massively throughout Judea and Samaria.  That would give over the message that for every day that they stay away from the negotiating table they lose more!
