The Israeli Army, who stand 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, try and protect the People of Israel. This soldier goes to the United Nations Human Rights Council to tell them what the IDF are really fighting against.

IDF

The IDF was created in 1948, it includes the Army, the Navy and the Air Force. Their mission statement “To defend the existence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of the state of Israel. To protect the inhabitants of Israel and to combat all forms of terrorism which threaten daily life.

The Army, Air Force and the Navy all use the same rank names. There are Privates, Corporal, Sergeant and First Sergeant. There is also Major Sergeant and many different ranks of Officers.

Ethical Code

The IDF ethical code was composed in order to meet the need for clear guidelines for an operational activity that invariably takes place within densely populated areas. Also called the Code of Conduct was written in 1992.

It is hard to know what the IDF will face in the time of War. Israel has suffered many Wars on all its borders. The IDF has also faced many Operations in Gaza since disengaging in 2005. When Hamas put children on the front lines and then shoot from behind what would you do?

United Nations Human Rights Council

The United Nations Human Rights Council are to protect and to promote Human Rights. The Council has 47 members and it’s headquarters are in Geneva, Switzerland. The Council was created in 2006 after the UN Commission on Human Rights had been highly criticized.

Even today the Council has been criticized for focusing too much on the Israeli – Palestinian Conflict and not on other countries, like Sudan, who have Human Rights Abusers and who really need their help. Israel has received over 70 sanctions from the Council, more than all the other countries put together.

Did you know that on June 30th 2006 the United Nations Human Rights Council passed a vote to make a review of alleged human rights abuses by Israel a permanent feature of every Council session? Biased against Israel much?
