Brooke Goldstein, Director of the Lawfare Project, calls out freshwoman Congresswoman Ilhan Omar like nobody else.

Ilhan Omar is the first female Muslim immigrant to become a Congresswoman. Time after time, instead of dealing with the serious critique against her numerous hateful and divisive outbursts, she deflects by hiding behind her identity as a Muslim and a woman. She epitomizes identity politics today, deflecting all critique against her by turning around to attack her critics as haters of Muslims, woman, immigrants etc. According to Omar she never deserves the massive wave of backlash to her hateful statements, especially towards Jews, so they all must be criticizing her because of her identity alone. Omar represents the fall of America into an identity-driven society instead of the melting pot society that it once was. Ironic, how it is the left that wants America to be more open and tolerant, yet in essence, it is the identity-politics of the left that is dividing America more and more each day.

Regarding immigration, America never was against immigration, and today it is not against immigration. America has to deal with balancing between two different values. The first value is helping and saving people seeking refuge and the second value is protecting America, and all Americans, from growing threats. Open borders, and some immigrants, pose a threat to the safety of America. The challenge for America, and all countries open to others, is how to balance those two values as best as possible.

Congresswoman like Omar like to gloss over the very real challenge in balancing between those two values and instead turns to calling people haters if they disagree with her.

Some of Omar’s Jew-Hating Statements

In 2012, as huge numbers of rockets rained down on Israel, Omar took to Twitter to make the disgusting, repulsive claim that “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.”

Years later as a Congresswoman, during a discussion about American support for Israel, she spoke about a certain group of Americans who were “pushing for allegiance to a foreign country” in reference to Jews who support Israel.

In responding on Twitter to an ongoing thread dealing with Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCathy’s vow to “take action” against her and Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib, for their support of boycotting and sanctioning Israel, Omar tweeted “It’s all about the Benjamins baby.” This was her direct reaction to the tweet from prominent journalist Glenn Greenwald, who said it was “stunning how much time US political leaders spend defending a foreign nation even if it means attacking free speech rights of Americans,” referring to McCarthy’s pledge.

Reactions

Dov Hikind, a former New York state assemblyman, tweeted months ago that Omar and Tlaib are among “the ones responsible for mainstreaming Jew hatred!”

In a discussion following the Poway Synagogue shooting on, Meghan McCain, co-host of “The View,” pivoted to denounce Omar.

“I do think, when we’re having conversations about anti-Semitism, we should be looking at the extremes on both sides, and I would bring up Congresswoman Ilhan Omar and some of her comments that got so much attention,” she said. “And in my opinion, Nancy Pelosi wasn’t hard enough in her response to her trafficking in anti-Semitic language.”

Jew-hatred exists everywhere, left, right and in Islam. It must be called out from wherever it comes, even when it’s from a black, Muslim Congresswoman. She should not be immune from getting criticized and punished for her hateful statements.
