Israel has now effectively shut down exit and entry into Bethlehem as well as forcing all travelers from anywhere in the world to go into a 14 day quarantine. This means that entry into Israel is closed.
Although this seems drastic it may well prevent mass spread of the deadly virus now sweeping the world. While the Prime Minister was said to resist the need to close the borders, VP Mike Pence convinced Netanyahu to do so.
The spread of the coronavirus and the inability of even first world countries like Italy to be able to contain it has shocked markets and injected panic across the globe.
While Israel has not been immune to the virus, the government hopes that its measures may control its spread in an already threatened populace.
