In the first act of defiance against Putin’s new Syria policy, Israel attacked targets in the Damascus vicinity.

While this may not seem like a big deal, Israel’s airstrikes comes after a major policy change towards Israel’s proactive policies in Syria. Putin warned that his non-interventionist policy was only good for Bibi’s tenure and that the current Israeli government would have to contend without it.

Bennett’s attack in Syria is the first time since Putin’s new policy that Israel has attacked Syria. Either Russia will respond directly or use its positions in Syria to respond there. Either way, Bennett’s move comes as a the region is growing tense over America’s retreat from Afghanistan. All sides appear to be preparing for a dramatic change in America’ involvement in the Middle East. Because of this, Israel appears ready to push ahead with its current Iran strategy – even if it means alienating itself.

With Bennett’s upcoming trip to the USA still on schedule – the assumption is that the Prime Minister will use his time with Biden and his staff to shore up his defense against Russia and her allies.
