The Democratic Party in America over the years has deteriorated. Its policy towards Israel has worsened, however, there are Jews that feel voting Democratic is now a mistake.

Democrats vs Republican

The Democrats was founded in 1828, by supporters of Andrew Jackson, the 7th President of the United States. The Party’s philosophy of modern liberalism advocates social and economic equality, along with the idea of the welfare state. The Party calls for a progressive tax , to try and close the gap between the classes.

The Democratic Party was considered a friend of Israel and of the Jews. Many Jews still vote for the Democrats. However, in recent years the relationship has declined. The Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is said to have called Israel “an apartheid regime”. Omar has also come out in support of BDS, Boycott Divestment and Sanctions.

The Republican Party, originally called the Grand Old Party was founded in 1854. Includes Presidents such as Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Reagen, both Bush Presidents and President Trump. Their ideology is conservatism, they support lower taxes and free market capitalism, a strong national defense and restrictions on labor unions.

The Republican party has always believed in having a strong alliance with Israel. Israel being the only democratic state in the middle east, it is a good ally. Their alliance has been shown more so by President Trump who moved the American Embassy to Jerusalem, announcing Jerusalem as the eternal capital of Israel. Trump also signed a proclamation stating that Israel had sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

Jexodus

Jexodus, also known as theexodusmovement.com, launched in 2019. The aim is to try and convince Jews to leave the Democratic Party. In recent years the Democratic party has become more anti Israel and anti Jewish. There was no response from the Party after the remarks of Ilhan Omar. Not saying anything is a form of agreeing to these remarks, which to many Jewish supporters of the Democrats, meant they lost their vote.

Jexodus is a play on words, joining together the word Jew and Exodus. Like the Exodus from Egypt, where the Jewish People left Egypt on mass. They want the Jewish People to leave the Democratic Party on mass. Just because your parents and your grandparents voted in the Democratic way does not mean you should. People should be able to vote freely.
