WhatsappThere is only one thing that radical progressives hate more than Republicans – those who once were on their side and appear to have joined the other side. That is the “crime” of Lara Logan. She was once a 60 minutes reporter, and now she was willing to work with Fox News. She hasn’t even made it a point to take anti-liberal stances, yet she is being “savaged” in her words by anti-conservatives. This is one of so many examples of the close-mindedness of some on the radical left, and an excellent example of how polarized the media has become in it’s stance on reporting the news.
A Return to Normalcy
What ever happened to good old-fashioned reporting of the news. Back in the 50’s and 60’s, Walter Cronkite was the #1 voice of news reporting. He certainly had political views, but you would have a hard time knowing what they were from his reporting. That is the way it should be. We should like our reporters – not agree with their political opinions.
Networks should have news reporters who shield their own views from the viewers, and their should be opinion shows that clearly take an angle. But today, there seems to be nearly no difference between news reporters and opinion shows. This is not healthy in any way. Fox News has a few token liberals and does allow for some anti-Trump dissent, but they are far and few compared to the rest of the “Trump is great” crowd. Even if you believe that Trump is great, the news reporters should be able to report the news without editorializing.
We are far away from the normal situation we need to be. Let’s hope Lara Logan’s new show will be a positive step in the right direction.
