Netanyahu Announces End to Anti-Israel International Monitoring Group in Hebron

TIPH is the Temporary International Presence in Hebron. Set up in 1994 to be temporary, it turned into a permanent international presence. TIPH claims to be neutral when in fact they are a blatantly biased anti-Israel organization. Unfortunately, the Israeli government has been too scared to kick these Israel bashing, IDF soldier harassing propagandists out of Hebron, until now. My friend and neighbor, Ari Fuld, who was murdered by a Muslim terrorist 4 months ago, visited Hebron a few months ago and saw the TIPH observers walking around. As Ari always did when he saw injustice and lies, he engaged them. They actually kept up the neutral facade until they slipped up at the 1:43 mark!

Netanyahu Finally Ending TIPH

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided Monday evening to end the mandate of the TIPH observer force, which ends this month.

“We will not allow the continuation of an international force that acts against us,” he stated.

The Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH) is a civilian observer mission in Hebron, established in 1994 after the Baruch Goldstein incident in the Cave of the Patriarchs. The force’s official mission is to monitor “the situation in Hebron and records breaches of international humanitarian law, the agreements on Hebron between Israel and the Palestinian authority and human rights, in accordance with internationally recognized standards.”

In December, Israeli officials said that TIPH had been overstepping its mandate by providing tours of Hebron for foreign diplomats with a narrative that was biased against Israel.

IDF officials also expressed concern that TIPH occasionally interfered with IDF activity in the area aimed to to stop terror and protect people’s lives.

As Ari mentioned in the above video, last July, a member of TIPH fled Israel after having been identified in an investigation into the vandalism of a vehicle belonging to Elad Fass, a Jewish resident of Hebron.

Earlier in July, a different TIPH participant was videotaped slapping a 10-year-old Jewish boy in the face so hard that his hat was knocked off.

Jewish residents of Hebron have come to experience TIPH mainly “monitoring” Israelis and doing nothing to monitor the terrorism of the Muslim residents.

In response, PA presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh charged that Israel “has abandoned the implementation of agreements signed under international auspices and its obligations under these agreements, which is rejected and is unacceptable.”

Abu Rudeineh further charged that “Israel, by its disregard for all signed agreements and its refusal to abide by its obligations, persists in creating an environment for escalation in tension and chaos in the region with unpredictable results.” Quite ironic coming from an organization that pays terrorists and their families for murdering Jews, as well as naming schools and public squares in their memory.

It is about time that Israel says no to the presence of TIPH, a body that operates against the IDF and the Jews of Hebron, including the alleging of human rights abuses and violations of the Oslo Accords and UN resolutions.

We are pleased that PM Netanyahu finally made this decision.
