The Change
This is quite a change from Prof. Dershowitz. Before the 2008 and the 2012 elections, he was a very strong supporter of Obama. Dershowitz even openly campaigning for him, and now he is convincing wavering Jews, who were wary of Obama, that perhaps they were indeed wary for good reason.
Before the 2008 elections, Dershowitz penned an article actually explaining why, as an Israel supporter, he supported Obama over McCain.
Explanation
“Why then do I favor Obama over McCain? First, because I support him on policies unrelated to Israel. Such as the Supreme Court, women’s rights, separation of church and state and the economy. But I also prefer Obama to McCain on the issue of Israel. How can I say that if I have just acknowledged that on the issues, they both seem to support Israel to an equal degree? The reason is because I think it is better for Israel to have a liberal supporter in the White House than to have a conservative supporter in the oval office.
Obama’s views on Israel will have a greater impact on young people, on Europe, on the media and on others who tend to identify with the liberal perspective. Although I believe that centrists liberals, in general, tend to support Israel, I acknowledge that support from the left seems to be weakening as support from the right strengthens. The election of Barack Obama — a liberal supporter of Israel — will enhance Israel’s position among wavering liberals.”
And Yet Again
When it came to Obama’s reelection in 2012, again Dershowitz hit the pavement hard to help get him Jewish votes for reelection. He even wrote op-eds, like this one in the Jerusalem Post.
So what happened?
For those of us who knew and already figured it out before the elections in 2008, this is no surprise. We knew that Obama was going to be a disaster, so we like to call the reason “reality.” The change that Obama promised back then was going to be a huge change for the worse for America and humanity. What woke Dershowitz up to the reality of Obama?
Maybe it was the horrible Iran deal – that Dershowitz first supported – and then realized was actually a dangerous deal being made. Or maybe it was the accumulation of various foreign policy gaffes. But at least Dershowitz had the intellectual honesty to wake up. On the other hand, so many other intelligent liberals, still prefer to ignore reality.
Dershowitz even went as far as to state that Obama’s foreign policy was a disaster for the United States. His words, not ours.
Obama was One of the Worst Presidents
Dershowitz is quoted as saying that he and many other liberal Democrats supported President Obama’s domestic policies. However, he then said that Obama “will go down in history as one of the worst foreign policy presidents ever.”
“Look, I supported his domestic policy. I liked him on Supreme Court appointments. But he created a terrible conflict for people, many like me – liberal Democrats who support his domestic policy – but think he was an appalling–appalling–president when it comes to foreign policy. He hurt America so badly.”
And now we have the Farrakhan picture, and this has totally jolted Prof. Dershowitz.
The Truly Sad Thing
The truly sad thing is that after the picture emerged, Obama spoke at a Synagogue in New York City. There he claimed that ‘he is a liberal Jew’, and most liberal Jews believe it 🙁
The fact that Obama associated with Farrakhan, “a virulent anti-Semite and anti-American,” as he said on “Fox & Friends”, that crossed a red line.
“He called Judaism a gutter religion. he is a horrible human being” says Dershowitz of Farrakhan, after His ties with Obama were revealed.
This clearly shows us that Obama and his henchmen knew exactly what they were doing when they hid this picture, and didn’t let it get out until this day.
