Religious Freedom for all
This executive order is a step in the right direction. So much of the world suffers from religious persecution, and President Trump wants to ensure that there is international religious freedom. Doing something good is more than doing something good for your own country.
The statistics are jaw-dropping. The fact that around 80% of the world’s population is suffering from some form of religious persecution is shocking and upsetting. In so many countries, religion is banned, people are threatened for practicing their faith, and sometimes they are killed.
Religion is Important
Being religious means you connect to something greater than yourself. Believing in G-d gives life a purpose. And having a sense of a community with others who share the same religious beliefs is fulfilling, comforting, and beneficial.
When all of that is taken away, what is a religious person to do? How can a religious person survive?
Whether you support everything President Trump does or not, if you are a religious person or really just a moral person, you should commend the president for this bold move. It makes a statement. He is taking action.
It is one thing to make promises, but it is another think to keep those promises. Trump said it was a priority to help fight against religious persecution, and he followed through. President Trump may not say or do everything right, but it is important to recognize when he has done something valuable for the world.
