Chaos in Baghdad as pro-Iranian militias storm the US Embassy following the US airstrikes after Iran was responsible for killing a US contractor.
Iraqi supporters of a Shiite militia have broken into the U.S. embassy compound in Baghdad after smashing a door and storming inside, prompting tear gas and sounds of gunfire. Screams of “Allahu Akbar, America is the biggest Satan” can be heard in the protests as well.
Our US Embassy in Baghdad has US military personnel and diplomats who are very important to our country and especially their families back home. Iran supporting terrorist acts to directly harm their safety today must be met with an appropriate, fierce and powerful response.

A violent anti-American protest led by the Popular Mobilization Units, the Iraqi militias loyal to Iran, is raging outside the US embassy in Baghdad. The smoke is from a guard’s station, a detached structure that the protestors broke open with a sledgehammer and then torched. pic.twitter.com/dw6iwfLEMV

Kataib Hezbollah protesters breaching the gates of the US embassy in Baghdad. They say they will stay till US troops leave. It’s the biggest US embassy in the world & supposedly secure but hard to see how diplomats can remain now pic.twitter.com/17VkjQA71W

You were the architect of @BarackObama’s Iran Deal that gave $140 BILLION to a nation that is that largest state sponsor of terrorism.
