Reactions to Beirut Blast: Silence About Hezbollah’s Destructive Role

While details regarding the Beirut port blast are still unknown, Al-Arabiya news network, and many others, are reporting that the Beirut blast was in an ammunition warehouse belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization.

The reactions of the EU and European leaders have focused on empathy and offering financial support. But they have been silent about any Hezbollah involvement.

German PM Angela Merkel said Germany would help Lebanon after the blast.

In Berlin, the Foreign Ministry reacted to the giant explosion in Beirut in which at least 78 people died and thousands were injured. “We are shocked by the photos from Beirut”, a statement read. “Employees of our embassy are among the injured”, the Ministry announced.

Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, said the E.U. was ready to provide “help and support”. Josep Borrell Fontelles, the High Representative of the European Union, said the E.U. offered its “unrestricted solidarity for the families of the victims, the Lebanese people and the Lebanese authorities.”

While it is nice that the European leaders and the EU offered words of empathy and support to Lebanon, they were silent about the alleged responsibility of Hezbollah, and Iran, Hezbollah’s patron, for this devastating blast.

It is wonderful for Europe to provide immediate aid to Lebanon, but further long term aid should be contingent on the total disarming of Hezbollah, a national security risk to Europe, the Arab world, Israel and Lebanon itself.

European countries and the EU continuously ignore Iran and Hezbollah’s role in global terror. They have continuously refused to outlaw the Hezbollah organization as a terror organization.

Just a few weeks ago, some 236 American members of Congress, as well as European lawmakers, called on the European Union to “designate Hezbollah in its entirety as a terrorist organization”.

The western lawmakers described the Lebanese Shiite terrorist group as the “Iranian regime’s most deadly proxy,” and said that “its violent and anti-Semitic ideology is poisoning the fabric of our pluralistic societies.”

“Hezbollah, the Iranian regime’s most deadly proxy, operates a global terror network that threatens not only its neighbors but also Western democracies.

Hezbollah “holds Lebanon hostage to its Iranian revolutionary agenda” and “abuses its own civilian population as human shields,” it continued. The terrorist organization is also “in violation of several UN Security Council resolutions” and is “assisting Shiite militias in Yemen and Iraq and possesses “some 150,000 missiles whose purpose is to target Israeli civilians.”

The European Union has already designated Hezbollah’s so-called military wing a terrorist organization, but the letter seeks to halt the group’s political activities across the continent as well.

Yet the EU still refuses to designate the Hezbollah organization as a terrorist organization, and ignores the destruction that Hezbollah, and Iran, are doing to Lebanon.

This is the same European Union that supports the racist Jew-hating policies of labeling products produced by Jews in Judea & Samaria, and finances a multitude of anti-Israel non-profit organizations that

1. give legal support to terrorists

2. promote the boycott, divestment, sanctions movement against Israel

3. protest IDF soldiers on duty, endangering their lives during operations

4. assist the legal battles of the illegal migrants from Africa

and on top off all that, provides millions of Euros to the Palestinian Authority to illegally build on Israeli state land in Judea & Samaria

Yes, they are silent about the horrors and terror, that emanate from Iran and Hezbollah.
