Redemption Watch: Reading the Signs of Redemption

In this week’s Redemption Watch installment, R’ Dovid Mark, founder of Israel Rising discusses the need to pay attention to the signs of Redemption, even when they are subtle.

A tremendous event happened this week. The State Department, a long time nemesis of Israel, reversed its policy of considering Israel an occupying power over its Biblical Heartland – Judea and Samaria.

To understand why this is one of the many signs of Redemption, we must first grasp the concept of a redemptive process rather than a redemption which happens all that once.

Unlike the first Redemption, which witnessed the Nation of Israel miraculously taken out of Egypt in one night, our sages and modern day spiritual leaders from Rav Kook to Vilna Gaon, the Baal Shem Tov to Rebbe Nachman, all agree that the Final Redemption is likened to a rising sun, whose light shines brighter and brighter as the day draws closer.

Since our inner world and external world are closely aligned, the same way we feel connected to the Almighty one day and yet far away the next, so too the Final Redemption for the world can appear close at times and far away at others.

All of this depends on our perception and our ability to read the signs of Redemption no matter how small. The announcement of the State Department is key to seeing God’s handiwork in the geopolitical events.

What will happen next and how this relates to President Trump’s peace plan is not clear, but one thing that is clear, is that the Almighty is pushing the Redemption of His people and the World closer than ever before.
