Deborah Lipstadt and Norman wrote an article recently in the Washington Post titled “Denying the Holocaust Threatens Democracy. So Does Denying the Election Results”.
I must admit, it is so sad to see such a despicable comparison to the Holocaust, which is a tremendous insult to the memory of the 6 million Jews murdered by the Nazis.
It is even sadder to see that it is coming from a holocaust scholar and a fighter against holocaust denial. As Supreme Court Adv. Nathan Lewin himself wrote in his follow-up article – “by publishing this rant with a blatant political bias, two otherwise renown American Jews have engaged in shameful Holocaust denial.”
The truth that too many people prefer to ignore is that everything President Trump and his team have done to contest the elections, including a plan for a Congressional contest on Jan. 6th, follows the Constitution. There is nothing undemocratic about it.
Democrats have done it plenty of times as well, including contesting the results at Congress on Jan. 6th before inauguration day. To ignore this hypocrisy is blatant partisanship, not a danger to democracy.
I’m sorry, but questioning the 2020 election results, with a massive amount of irregularities and alleged voter fraud, is not a threat to democracy. It is about ensuring election integrity so that people can trust the election process.
The truth is that the true threat to democracy is ignoring the call to properly investigate as well as delegitimizing anyone who calls for proper investigation.
I will end off with this question. Hypothetically, if between now and Jan. 20th evidence emerges that brings about the inauguration of President Trump on Jan. 20th…
Meaning, that information came out that proves that irregularities and fraud took place…
Meaning, that since Nov. 3rd politicians/judges/journalists/social media companies etc. were intentionally ignoring/censoring/automatically debunking any information that could have brought about proper investigations of the evidence…
Meaning, that they were complicit in trying to steal the election for Biden without properly investigating the irregularities and allegations of fraud…
Again, hypothetically, in the scenario that President Trump becomes President on Jan. 20th, will all the people who agree that “denying the election results is like holocaust denial” accept the final result of President Trump being reelected? Or will they deny it and therefore be comparable to holocaust deniers? Just curious.
In such a hypothetical scenario, of Trump being inaugurated on the 20th, not only will what has been done be worse than “the big lie”, as per Prof. Lipstadt, it would be a “huge and total undermining of democracy”. Much, much worse.
And yes, if Biden is inaugurated on Jan. 20th, I will accept that.
