The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement are at it again. They have been trying to boycott Israel for a few years now. But have they really thought of the affect it will have on those they are trying to help?

Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions

The BDS Movement is a global campaign to try and promote boycotting against Israel. They claim Israel is not meeting international law, they claim Israel should withdraw from the occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in Judea and Samaria and give Arab citizens the same quality and rights as Israeli citizens.

But BDS is claiming to be helping the Arab citizens but is it? Do they know how many Arabs work in Israeli factories? or Israeli Supermarkets? or other places? Boycotting Israel would have an affect on these Arab workers. At the end of the day, if no one is buying the Israeli products Israel would not be able to pay its Arab workers, therefore leaving them with no money to pay for food, clothing, water and other day to day expenses.

Critics of the BDS Movement have argued that it is antisemitic. Since the Movement is only known to have targeted Israel. There are other countries that have countless times violated human rights and where are the protests? where is the uproar? Saudi Arabia, you get your head cut off for being gay, in Iraq you get hung in public, did you know this?? Where is the BDS Movement?? They are busy targeting a country where the Jews and Arabs mix freely and increasingly live in the same neighborhoods and where there is no imposed segregation.

Eurovision

The Eurovision song contest is held every year, with many countries participating. The country where the Eurovision is held is the country that won the competition the year before. Israel won the competition in 2018, therefore in 2019 the competition is to be held in Tel Aviv, Israel.

At the request of the BDS Movement, many celebrities have come out saying they should boycott the Eurovision, therefore boycotting Israel. However, did you know that many people from Arab countries seek asylum in Israel? Many from the gay community, have moved to Israel as being homosexual is forbidden in other countries.

The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement really need to think before boycotting and damaging Israel. It is not only Israeli’s they are hurting but the Arabs they are trying to help too.
