The Spy is a new TV series that comes out on Netflix on September 6th. It is based on a true story. A spy called Eli Cohen played here by famous actor Sacha Baron Cohen. This series looks like it’ll be a great hit.

The Spy

Without giving too much of the story away, so as not to spoil the new upcoming TV series. Eli Cohen was born in 1924, in Alexandria, a city in Egypt. His parents and three brothers left Egypt and made their way to Israel in 1949. However, Cohen stayed behind to finish his degree. It was only in the late 1950s that Eli, with the help of the Jewish Agency, emigrated to Israel.

The Israel Defense Forces recruited Eli and placed him in military intelligence. Eventually, the Mossad recruited him for a mission in 1961. Many historians have said that thanks to Eli Cohen Israel won the 6 Day War in 1967. This war changed the course of Israel history. For it was during this war Israel conquered Judea and Samaria and most importantly Temple Mount.

Finally, this is an exceptional story. Definitely a TV show worth watching. It is hard to imagine what it was like to live during those times, or how events happened. But bringing it to life on a TV show really helps me picture how things were or how things happened.

Sacha Baron Cohen

Sacha Baron Cohen is also known as Ali G. A great comedian and actor. Born in England in 1971. His parents raised him Jewish and did you know that he talks fluent Hebrew? He also spent a year volunteering at a kibbutz in Israel. How cool?

Cohen is set to play Eli Cohen in the new TV show on Netflix. I think he will be great for the part. With his history and understanding for Israel. Looking forward to seeing the show when it airs.
