Terror Victim
This is an emotional story about the Shabo Family who lives in Itamar. The attack took place in June 2002, where two terrorists broke into a civilian house and killed the mother and three sons and injuring others. Asahel age 10, Avia age 13 and their father survived.
This is just one family that has been affected by the terror taking place in Israel. The list of families that have been broken due to terror is endless. The story is heartbreaking but the strength and faith he has to continue after such a tragedy are inspiring.
Hope
I do not understand how these families have the strength to continue after such a tragedy. God has definitely given this young man the strength to continue and live to the fullest. Considering, all the tragedy that he has been through. I can not even begin to imagine what it is like losing a parent at such a young age.
Asahel suffered in the attack and as part of his long rehabilitation process, he kept busy with sports, such as basketball and swimming. Furthermore, he has won almost 80 medals in swimming and in basketball for Paralympics. Most importantly, he has tried to look at the positive and focus on the present and the future.
Finally, he feels that he can not dwell in the past. He needs to look to the future. Living life to its fullest in memory of those family members who could not. I only wish Asahel and his family strength when the times are hard. We continuously pray to God that no more families should suffer as the Shabo family did.
