UK Christian doctor fired for religious beliefs

David Mackereth, a UK Doctor, was fired over his religious belief in a meeting that discussed a hypothetical situation. “My manager took to one side and asked me various questions. I can summarize by saying he said, ‘If you have a man that is six feet tall with a beard that says: call me she or would you do it?’ And I gave the reply which I have given since that as a Christian in good conscience I cannot do that.”

It was ruled by a three judge panel that doctor David Mackereth’s answer did not show human dignity. He was subsequently fired.

Christians around the world are increasingly being singled out for their beliefs and either fired or reprimanded.

Open Doors released data from the previous year on Christian persecution:

  • Over 245 million Christians living in places where they experience high levels of persecution
  • 4,305 Christians killed for their faith
  • 1,847 churches and other Christian buildings attacked.
  • 3,150 believers detained without trial, arrested, sentenced or imprisoned

Unfortunately as shown in the case of the doctor, even “enlightened” countries have shown that is far more important to persecute Christian believers for their belief system than to take a chance offending a trans gender individual.

The authorities appear to be leaving Christians little recourse and Christians in professional settings are increasingly being held accountable for using standard words normally.
