At an officers graduation ceremony yesterday, Prime Minister Netanyahu made a shocking declaration before the crowd. He outlined his plan for southern Syria where the IDF has partial control over the western regions, heavily populated by the Druze. He stated: “𝘐𝘯 𝘚𝘺𝘳𝘪𝘢, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘐𝘋𝘍 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘰𝘯. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘶𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳 𝘻𝘰𝘯𝘦, 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘭 𝘧𝘶𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦. 𝘛𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘵𝘰𝘸𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵. 𝘞𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘏𝘛𝘚, 𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘚𝘺𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘺, 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘋𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘴. 𝘞𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘯 𝘚𝘺𝘳𝘪𝘢, 𝘪𝘯 𝘘𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘳𝘢, 𝘋𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘸𝘦𝘪𝘥𝘢. 𝘐𝘯 𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘸𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘳𝘶𝘻𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯 𝘚𝘺𝘳𝘪𝘢!”

Those of us that have been following developments in southern Syria since Israel’s lightning fast takeover of the Hermon summit and the Druze communities in the Syrian Golan have known that Israel’s ultimate goal has been to set up an IDF protected Druze autonomous enclave in the As-Suwayda also known as Jabal Al-Druze where 300 thousand Druze live.

In parallel with Netanyahu’s statement yesterday about the Israeli demand to disarm southern Syria from the forces of the HTS regime in Damascus as well as the intention of Israel to not tolerate a threat to the Druze there, 3 videos of Druze military groups from various villages in the Suwayda district were published in the past 24 hours. These videos openly announce joining the “Suwayda Military Council” – a body that was established after the overthrow of the Assad regime and “refreshed” with a new logo (seen to the left) in the past 24 hours.

The basic outline of the council, headed by Tariq al-Shufi shows an implicit connection to the Kurds in Syria. Prime Minister Netanyahu’s statements, occurring in parallel to the new activity in the last 24 hours in and the connection to the Kurds, leave no doubt that there is a planned move here between Israel, the Kurds and the Druze – all of which have a common set of interests and concerns.

This move towards a federated autonomy for both Kurds and Druze in Syria under the external security of Israel is the first step in unleashing the true potential and comeback for three Middle Eastern Indigenous peoples who have long endured abuse under the thumb of radical Islam. It also offers a real attempt at blocking a resurgent Turkey and Qatar from taking over the Middle East.

From Netanyahu’s statements, it is clear Trump is onboard.
